I have to admit, I’ve never been
much of a making can be a lonely business….many  hours, alone in the studio, nothing to keep company but your thoughts, trusty ipod (best invention since sliced bread!) and if you are lucky, a trusty dog, who thinks everything you make is BEEYOUTEEFUL! Here and there it can get to me, so reach out to community I did…I have been juried in to an international group of metalsmiths who call themselves EtsyMetal. There are artists who do this full time and some who engage in other facets of creative work  in addition ( I spied some graphic designers, and a host of other creative professions when I was reading some of the bios of the group), folks with tons of experience, and newbies  to everything in between. The tie that seems to bind this group is a love of shiny things and little tiny tools! What struck me the most in perusing the etsymetal teams’ website is the absolute expanse of ways all of these artists are working the same medium. Some of us melt, some of us swing a hammer, some twist and manipulate wires…we solder, saw, string and shine metal to bring more beauty into the world. I would like to give a grand old shout out to the lovely Beth Cyr, who mentored me into being a part of this community! I look forward to dialogue about one of my most favorite subjects, METAL!

  1. Woaa! These look beautiful and interesting, the stamping is really eye catching… will you be showing more of the piece?

About those treasuries, its my way of sharing with anyone who care to see, all of my favorites, and to give back to them, although I may not be able to purchase what I place in them, at least I hope I help it find its intended owner, yes?

I am utterly addicted to creating treasuries and find I seek color therapeutically. I was once given an art project to paint my day… I started with the lightest yellow and then it turned in to swirls of light blue, and all of the sudden into spots of red and back into blue, some purple in zigzags and so on so forth… the shapes and shade told me a lot of how I felt about the day walking through calm anxiety and such and I suppose this is a way for me to search out what I am feeling in the tones and cromas that capture my imagination and what I place in the treasuries… its really a treat for me to do:)

  2. Hello Miss Kerin! Thanks so much for the the nice thoughts on my upcoming move, and for the sweet comment about “Frida” 🙂 Speaking of bracelets, the bracelet in this post is stunning! Is that a new design? The floral pattern is so pretty on it. And also speaking of bracelets, I haven’t forgotten about making one for you, if you’re still interested! Maybe once the dust settles and the boxes are unpacked!
