A poem for the new year…..

kerin rose, jewelry, fox photoEarth teach me stillness

as the grasses are stilled with light.

Earth teach me suffering

as old stones suffer with memory.

Earth teach me humility

as blossoms are humble with beginning.

Earth teach me caring

as the mother who secures her young.

Earth teach me courage

as the tree which stands alone.

Earth teach me limitations

as the ant which crawls on the ground.

Earth teach me freedom

as the eagle which soars in the sky.

Earth teach me resignation

as the leaves which die in the fall.

Earth teach me regeneration

as the seed which rises in the spring.

Earth teach me to forget myself

as melted snow forgets its life.

Earth teach me to remember kindness

as dry fields weep with rain.

hello lovelies!….I am back…but not in a big way…feeling a bit enervated from ┬áthe ‘doings’ of the last 2 weeks or so, and well, my mind and heart almost feel as if they are incubating…something…

so, I am just going with the low key level of energy I am feeling, and adopting a go-with-the flow attitude towards it…but I recieved this poem in my inbox today, via the blog of one Pixie Campbell, a mixed media artist whose work I have recently found and well, check her out and see for yourself…she is a fellow traveler on the artistic and spiritual plane for sure…

Happy New Year to you all!

Tell me, do you do anything special to ‘mark’ the years’ turning?

  1. i’m trying to *not* think too hard or too long with my own words.
grasping the newness of the year has a real sweetness to it.

thank you for teaching me a poem of lessons from the earth.

    xoxo

  2. I love the poem…I love even more the low key approach…I think I am doing the same only because one of my worlds is overwhelmed with work and the world that is more fun has to be on the back burner…what am I saying?

I went to Orange Grove Blvd in Pasadena where they start lining up the floats for the Rose Parade on New Year’s Eve…people get to walk around these floats and examine them close by…I had no thoughts in my head, only happy to be walking around all these flowers in the cool crisp late hours of 2010…

    xoxo

  3. Happy New Year Kerin…
I love the depth of this poem. It forces the eyes, mind and body to slow and match it’s pace…Like a little meditation.
I hope 2011 brings you peace, success and happiness.
    xo
